Looking for good NYC apartments, Midtown West is often overlooked as a destination. Hell’s Kitchen, The Tenderloin, Clinton, and The Theater District - all names for part of the area west of 6th Avenue, between 30th Street and 56th Street, has finally become a prime destination for New Yorkers and is now known collectively as “Midtown West”. Our search for no fee apartments in NYC increasingly points to the benefits of Midtown West.
It’s easy to understand why. First, the area is exciting. Sure you’re sharing the sidewalks with hoards of tourists, but they are finding excitement in the hustle and bustle. Then there are the restaurants – one of the largest concentrations of casual and fine restaurants anywhere.
There is nightlife galore; clubs, bars, dancing, jazz, and intimate lounges. This is where Broadway theater stars go after the show to hang out and relax.
Finally, there is lots of new rental building construction, lots of small, mid-block rental apartment buildings, and all the neighborhood services you need to live comfortably, such as prime grocery shopping, dry cleaners, pharmacies, and neighborhood delis service a wide variety of cuisines.

Compared to other Manhattan apartment rental prices, rentals in Midtown West were very low just a few years ago. Midtown West was not a desirable area to live in and was sometimes considered dangerous for women to walk the streets late at night.
All of that have dramatically changed. It is now safe and filled with life at all hours.
All of the new activity in Midtown West has pushed apartment rental prices up. Perhaps more so, as a percentage, than in almost any other Manhattan neighborhood. But they keep in mind that they were, until recently, below the average for prime NYC rentals. Now prices in Midtown West are a little higher than on the Upper East Side and in some buildings, rents rival the Upper West Side .
Let’s take a look at what’s on the market today:
