Almost exactly two months ago, we profiled the cost of rental studio apartments on the Upper East Side. At that time, we profiled three attractive studios renting between $1725 and $1750.
Now that the rental season has started in earnest for New York City apartments, it’s fair to ask the same question, where are the best studio apartments, based on location and price? Our answer is, unequivocally, once again, the Upper East Side.

What is it about the Upper East Side that makes it the place for good and affordable studios? There are a couple of factors. For one, the Upper East Side is a large geographic area, so there are simply lots of apartments.
Another reason is that the Upper East Side has the largest concentration of luxury high rise NYC apartments, so all the people looking for luxury digs have lots of buildings to pick from, but there are still hundreds of small rental builds midblock that don’t appeal to the luxury crowd. They are not competing for these apartments.
Finally, consider that studios are in demand by singles, not married families. The Upper East Side had, in the past few years, fallen out of favor with young singles coming to New York. The result was a great stock of studio apartments at prices that have been more reasonable than in almost any other “prime” neighborhood.
That has all begun to change. Singles are rediscovering the benefits of the Upper East Side. Here at NoFeeRentDirect.com, we’ve been always loved living on the Upper East Side. Best of all, we find that the prices on the Upper East Side are barely higher than what they were two month’s ago. In fact, considering how prices have shot up in parts of Brooklyn, I’d say if you’re looking for cheap apartments, look on the Upper East Side. Let’s take a look:

This building is part of a larger complex of Landmarked buildings that
forms its own community in Yorkville. Residents are fiercely protective
of their homes and fought (and won.) a battle in 1992 to save these
buildings from destruction. All of the apartments were renovated in
1992, and some have been renovated a second time more recently to keep up with the times.
